Fossil - Septarian Nodules Cut Polished Pairs

approx 5.5-6.5cm

16-22 grams

Polished halves of a Septarian nodule.

Septarian nodules are the result of angular cavities in sedimentary layers of rocks later being filled with softer stone and concreted together. This geological process makes the nodule harder than its surroundings, so more resistant to weathering, allowing the nodules to be obtained.
